Soft Launch Planner

Soft Launch Planner

When to use it

Use this tool to plan the launch of a new product or service to a specific ‘test’ segment of your audience.

What’s the purpose

This template helps you to gather insights in preparation for an official launch. By quietly launching your solution to a distinct audience, you can gather feedback to help you learn, refine and prepare for your official launch to a much bigger audience.

How to do it

  1. Begin by adding your product/service name at the top of the template.
  2. Next, write down the primary message that you want to deliver to your audience, a description of your solution and the problem-oriented features you are testing (what are the key features that address the main user issues).
  3. Then, define each of your launch goals according to the categories below and for each one, identify how you will measure success.
    • Revenue: How much money do you intend to generate during the soft launch?
    • Target audience development: What would you like to find out about your target audience?
    • Units sold: How many units do you intend to sell (product/service) during the soft launch?
    • Customer retention: How many customers do you hope to turn into repeat buyers?
  4. Finally, create a timeline for your soft launch plan at the bottom of the template. This will help keep you on track to meet your deadlines.
